Tinder is even believed to be more popular than Facebook nowadays. People check their accounts more than 10 times per day and spend an average of more than one hour per day on the app. So, if you are not yet familiar with what Tinder is, you’re going to want to know how it works.

What is Tinder?

It is one of the most asked questions regarding this app: “What is Tinder?”. Tinder explained: it’s a simple, anonymous, online dating app. When Tinder first came on the scene, it was used more as a casual sex app because it finds you potential matches who are single and willing to date, based on their proximity to you.

How does Tinder work?

It’s really very simple and easy. Tinder finds your location using GPS, you set a proximity of the range, i.e. 2 kilometers, then uses your Facebook information to create your profile and viola: a Tinder profile is made up only of your first name, age, five selected photos of you and some pages you’ve ‘liked’ on Facebook. Don’t worry about your privacy! Tinder can’t post anything to Facebook. It is just to gather some information about who you are, what kind of sports/movies/whatever you like and to select up to 5 pictures that you choose.

Tinder then finds you potential matches near your proximity. You select gender, age and distance and you get a selected list of people. Now you can swipe through this list to decide who you like and who you don’t like. If you see a profile that you like, swipe right. If you see a profile that you don’t like, swipe left. You will never see that profile again though..

Once you’ve liked a profile, and that person found you in their proximity as well (rememeber, gender, age and distance!) and he or she swiped your profile to the right as well, Tinder will now set up a chat. From this moment on you have to do the trick yourself, but it’s a lot easier knowing there is mutual interest!

We have a Tinder chat, now what?

Now, get in touch with the other person and swap numbers. Set up a date in a bar or go to the movies and let yourself do the rest 🙂
